The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not sending five standby players, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel to Dubai for the Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Blue will start their campaign against the UAE on September 10.

It will be followed by the matches against arch-rivals Pakistan and Oman on September 14 and 19. The BCCI named a 15-member team, with Shubman Gill returning as a vice-captain.

According to a report by news agency PTI, the BCCI doesn’t want to send reserve players. “Jaiswal, Prasidh, Sundar, Parag and Jurel will not travel with the team to Dubai,” PTI quoted a BCCI source as saying.

Meanwhile, the players will reach Dubai from their respective cities, a change in policy due to logistics issues and the players’ convenience.

“All the players will arrive in Dubai on September 4, and the first practice session is on September 5. Due to logistical issues and the players’ convenience, the selected cricketers will fly to Dubai from their respective locations,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on anonymity.

Some players like Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Kuldeep Yadav are playing in the Duleep Trophy.
