Team India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is struggling for runs. In 12 matches this year, he has amassed 100 runs. He managed just 72 runs in 6 matches in the Asia Cup 2025, with the highest score of 47 not out coming against Pakistan in Dubai.

However, head coach Gautam Gambhir is not worried about SKY’s ordinary results, saying that failures are part of the game when someone plays aggressive cricket.

“His form doesn’t concern me as we are playing an aggressive brand of cricket. Failures are inevitable. Surya can easily score 40 runs off 30 balls, but we have decided that it is acceptable to fail while going for runs,” Gambhir told JioHotstar.

“Abhishek Sharma is in good form and showed his class in the Asia Cup. When Surya comes back to form, he will be among the runs. With aggressive style, our batters may fail, but impact is more important than runs,” he added.

Gambhir also called Suryakumar a great human being. “He is a great human being. He gives freedom to the players and doesn’t fear losing. I don’t want to be the most successful coach. I want my team to be the most fearless one.”
