Saba Karim wants the selectors and team management to give more chances to Venkatesh Iyer. He also picked his Playing XI for the first ODI against West Indies.

Former India selector Saba Karim is surprised with Ruturaj Gaikwad’s absence from the T20 squad for the series against the visiting West Indies side. He stated that that young player was chosen for international cricket based on his batting display in the Indian Premier League.

Gaikwad, 24, who made his international debut during the T20I series in Sri Lanka last year, has been selected for the ODIs against the Windies.

“He is not part of the T20 squad but has been included in ODIs. He entered international cricket after his magnificent batting for Chennai Super Kings. So a couple of changes are absurd. Hopefully, we get a settled combination soon because the T20 World Cup is not far away,” he said.
