Former wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim wants Team India captain Rohit Sharma to perform with the bat.
Admitting that the 34-year old has been exceptional as a captain, Karim said that Rohit needs to lead from the front as far as his batting is concerned.
With Rohit as captain, India have been on a roll across formats. However, Rohit has registered just one fifty in his last 10 innings in international cricket on the batting front.
Speaking about the Indian skipper’s lack of runs, Karim said on the Khelneeti podcast:
“Rohit needs to perform with the bat. He has led very well, but you become a good or great captain with the team’s support. So he needs to contribute individually and keep adding value to the squad. The next Testy will be a challenging one for him.”
Rohit has registered scores of 44, 1 and 5 and 29 in the last four innings.
Saba Karim further added that Mayank Agarwal would have to convert his starts into big scores to justify his selection.
