England players have been lambasted and ridiculed for their disastrous Ashes 2021-22 campaign. The visitors lost 0-4 against arch-rivals Australia. While the former cricketers are demanding sacking of Joe Root and Chris Silverwood, Jos Buttler and few other players have also come under the scanner for their display in Australia.
Geoffrey Boycott wants the national selectors to drop Buttler on a permanent basis as he is not fit to play Test cricket. The England and Wales Cricket Board is expected to take tough calls after taking the review into consideration.
Meanwhile, England’s assistant coach Paul Collingwood has defended the players. He has indirectly blamed the bio-bubble restrictions for the below-par display.
“England team deserves medal for going to Australia for the Ashes, not criticism. People haven’t understood the impact of Bio-Bubble, it was mentally really tough for England,” he said.
