In a recent setback for Bangladesh, fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming Asia Cup due to a knee injury. He sustained the injury during the recent ODI series against Afghanistan.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury has sidelined Ebadot and cast a shadow over his participation in the cricketing season. As a result, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named medium pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib as his replacement.
Ebadot Hossain had been a crucial component of Bangladesh’s squad for the Asia Cup tournament. However, his injury, a torn anterior cruciate ligament, has dashed his hopes of competing in the event.
Despite undergoing an intensive six-week rehabilitation program, MRI scans have indicated that his ACL remains a significant concern.
Dr. Debashis Chowdhury, the BCB Chief Sports Physician, stated, “Ebadot had undergone six weeks of rehab following the injury. We have had multiple MRIs done during this time. The reports suggest that his ACL is still a concern and requires further management. Therefore, he misses out on the Asia Cup.”
Understanding the significance of Ebadot’s contribution to the team and the importance of his long-term fitness, the BCB is taking proactive measures.
Officials commit to exploring all viable and safe medical options, including considering potential overseas consultation and treatment.
Dr. Chowdhury stressed, “Given the significance of the ICC World Cup in October, which is the next major event for the Bangladesh team, the BCB is dedicated to investigating all available safe medical options to facilitate Ebadot’s swift return to full fitness and his earliest possible participation in matches, including exploring overseas consultation and treatment.”
Meanwhile, Tanzim, Ebadot’s replacement, has taken 57 and 22 wickets in 37 List A and 12 First Class matches, respectively. The medium pacer possesses a reputation for his adept control and impressive swing.
He eagerly would want to seize the opportunity to contribute to his side’s performance in the tournament.
