Suryakumar Yadav has been India’s best batsman against Sri Lanka. After winning the Man of the Series award in ODIs, he started the T20I assignment with a bang. The right-handed batsman scored a half-century in the first match in Colombo.
The 30-year-old scored 50 off 34 deliveries as the visitors scored 164/5 from the allotted 20 overs. His innings was laced with five boundaries and two sixes. Before he could hit a few more, he was dismissed after getting a fifty. He played a miscued shot which was caught by Ramesh Mendis at long-off.
His downfall was not liked by head coach Rahul Dravid, who was visibly upset with the Indian player.
It was Ishan Kishan’s 20 not-out off 14 balls that took India to 164. In reply, Sri Lanka could manage 126 runs with Charith Asalanka scoring 44.
