Head coach Rahul Dravid's frequent breaks
Ravi Shastri has opined on head coach Rahul Dravid taking breaks from the international series.

Ravi Shastri has opined on head coach Rahul Dravid taking breaks from the international series. The current coach is not a part of New Zealand tour and has been replaced by VVS Laxman, who also heads the Nation Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

Dravid has been absent from the support staff before. Earlier, he had been rested from a couple of series.

When the former head coach Shastri was asked about this new culture, he was completely against it as he felt a coach has to be with his players. Shastri also gave the example of the Indian Premier League, in which the Indian coach gets a break for two months as he is not associated with any franchise.

” I don’t believe in breaks as you get the rest of 2 months during the IPL, and that’s enough. If I am the coach, I want to see my players and be there with them, watching them closely all the time,” he said.

The Men in Blue will play three T20Is and as many ODIs in New Zealand. While Hardik will lead in the shortest format, Shikhar Dhawan is the captain for the ODI series.
