Former India pacer S Sreesanth has opined on the ongoing debate over India’s 2027 ODI World Cup team as he sent a blunt message to head coach Gautam Gambhir. With questions being asked about the future of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the fifty-over format, Sreesanth is in favour of two senior players representing the Men in Blue in the global tournament.

Sreesanth urged Gambhir not to stop Kohli and Rohit, saying they deserve inclusion in the team.

“Gautam bhai, you are the coach, and you shouldn’t stop anyone. Don’t stop Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and let them play. They are far better than most of the players who are currently competing in international cricket. I want to say all the best to Ro-Ko, and please don’t stop these two legends,” he said.

Kohli and Rohit have been in form since returning to ODI cricket in October this year against Australia. Rohit scored a hundred and fifty to win the Player of the Series award. Kohli, who registered two ducks in the first two matches, amassed an unbeaten fifty and shared a 165-run stand with Rohit in Sydney.

Returning for the home ODI series against South Africa, Kohli scored 135 runs to set up India’s win in Ranchi. His Player of the Match performance gave India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. On the other hand, Rohit posted his third consecutive fifty-plus score and added another century partnership with Virat.

Despite their magnificent run, the selectors and team management are not convinced. They want the two senior players to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy later this month. Rohit and Kohli will be seen in action in the domestic tournament after a long time. Rohit has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association about his availability, while Kohli also spoke to the DDCA about his willingness to represent Delhi.
