MS Dhoni is the most successful Indian captain and has been a part of winning campaigns in the Indian Premier League on four occasions.
With Dhoni in charge, CSK has become the best franchise in the 20-over tournament. At 40, he led the Chennai-based team to its fourth IPL title, beating Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 27 runs in the final in Dubai.
CSK teammate Shardul Thakur revealed how MS Dhoni helped the bowlers to defend 192 versus Kolkata.
“I don’t know what was going through MS Dhoni’s mind. He asked Bravo to go to long-off. He asked me about my plan, and I told him that I would go according to his instructions.”‘
“He told me to keep mid-off in the circle. Venkatesh Iyer was dismissed on the next ball. Nitish Rana also lost his wicket, and we got the momentum. I thought in such a tense situation, Dhoni brought some reasoning and result,” said Shardul.
Shardul also recalled losing the final to Mumbai Indians by 1 run in 2019. He said winning the trophy in 2021 freed him of the burden he had been carrying for two years.
