Former India skipper Kapil Dev has also questioned Rohit's lean patch.

Rohit Sharma is one of the best batters across formats in international cricket. However, he had a nightmarish IPL season this year. Rohit failed to score a single fifty for the first time since 2008.

The 35-year-old Mumbai Indians captain accumulated 248 runs at an average of 19.14 and a strike rate of 120.17 in 14 matches.

The five-time champions finished last in the points table. Rohit, who was rested for the T20I series against South Africa, is back to lead India in England.

In the first four Tests against England, he had amassed 368 runs in 4 Tests, including a hundred and two fifties.

Former India skipper Kapil Dev has also questioned Rohit’s lean patch.

“It is hard to know who has been rested or asked to be rested. He is a brilliant player, but if you don’t score a fifty in 14 games, questions will be raised, even if you are Gary Sobers, Don Bradman, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar or Viv Richards. Only Rohit can answer what’s wrong with him.”
