Suryakumar Yadav always has a smile on his face while speaking to the media. On Thursday, the practice sessions were called off due to rain and a wet outfield and SKY spoke to reporters.

He talked about his batting, Jasprit Bumrah and how hard it is to pick Harshal Patel’s slower ones.

One of the journalists asked him about his role in attacking the spinners like he has done over the years in IPL.

“Sir, do chakke toh fast bowler ke against bhi maare toh thoda credit banta hai, kya bolte ho?” he said. I am very flexible and don’t have a particular role. I plan for every situation, and I am ready to bat anywhere. I just have to do my role, and I am happy to do it,” he said.

The bowlers couldn’t defend 208 runs in the first T20I against Australia, but SKY defended his teammates.

“There was a dew, so you must give credit to the Aussie batters as they kept playing their shots. We tried our best,” he added.

He also spoke about Harshal Patel and why he should be given more time. “His slower ones are deceptive, and he has just returned from an injury. He needs time to get back to form.”
