Dinesh Karthik was recalled to the Indian side after more than two years. The 37-year-old batted beautifully for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022 and was rewarded with a place for the T20I series against South Africa.
He has almost cemented his place for the ICC T20I World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Karthik has been lauded for his focus and fitness. However, in his career, he has dropped on many occasions.
The veteran recently shed light on the IPL, the comeback at 37, the maiden T20I fifty against the Proteas and the upcoming T20I World Cup.
He expressed gratitude toward everyone who supported him in his journey.
At the launch event of Evocus, a black Alkaline water company, he said, “Making a comeback when you are 35-plus was never going to be easy. I am thankful to everyone who helped me during that phase. I quietly believed in myself and did the hard yards before the IPL, and I am happy things worked well.”
Speaking about his role at RCB, he added, “The fact that I did so well for RCB has helped me achieve a few important things. It is a journey, and I am enjoying it. With every new day, there is a different challenge. Some challenges you overcome, and some are harder, so it has been interesting so far.”
Talking about the forthcoming World Cup, he added, “With the kind of talent we have, I am confident of India doing very well in the World Cup.”
