The much-anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and New Zealand finally got underway on Saturday after rain washed out the entire day’s play on Friday.
While India didn’t make any changes to their playing XI announced a couple of days ago, the Blackcaps opted not to include a spinner and went with an all pace attack, preferring all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme.
After being put on to bat first, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started brightly despite the challenging conditions. However, Dinesh Karthik, who was part of the first commentary panel alongside Nasser Hussain, stole the show in the morning session.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman was talking about Rohit Sharma being extremely good at pull shot which he plays off the short ball. He also lauded the 34-year-old for playing spin well and also bringing his positive intent at the top of the order for the team.
“Rohit is a great puller of the short ball. Uses his feet well against spin. Shows positive intent,” said Nasser Hussain. However, Dinesh Karthik was quick to pull the leg of his colleague behind the mic.
The 36-year-old hilariously trolled Hussain saying that the former England skipper’s batting style was exactly opposite to Rohit’s. “Yes, exactly the opposite of you,” he cheekily responded.
Netizens were in awe of his humorous commentary and loved what he did to Nasser Hussain, who himself couldn’t stop laughing after Karthik’s brutal response. Here are some of the reactions:
