R Ashwin has been a revelation since his return to the T20I squad. He, along with Axar Patel, bowled exceptionally in the recently concluded T20 series against New Zealand. The two spinners shared seven wickets in the three-match series. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal played just one game.
Though Chahal’s return was overshadowed by the performance of Axar Patel in the final game, Indian wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik believes the RCB bowler will be a key part of the team under Rohit Sharma. Karthik has backed Chahal to play in the next edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
“He has a very good record outside India, so that is a very important point to remember when India travel to play the T20 World Cup in Australia. I do not doubt that he will be on the flight to Australia, and Rohit Sharma trusts him,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.
KKR batter further added that Chahal and Rohit share a strong bond both on and off the field.
