Team India lost the first T20I by four wickets against Australia. Despite scoring 208/6, the Men in Blue couldn’t defend the total as the bowlers leaked a lot of runs.
Cameron Green, who opened, scored 61 while Matthew Wade remained unbeaten on 45 in Australia’s win. India took wickets of Green, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Jos Inglis in the middle overs.
However, even as Karthik had taken Maxwell’s catch, he didn’t appeal for a review, and captain Rohit Sharma grabbed the wicketkeeper’s neck. Robin Uthappa, who has played with both the players, reacted to Rohit’s behaviour.
“Dinesh has a habit of getting relaxed at times, and what Rohit Sharma did with him was good, as he warned him. He told him to at least appeal,” said Uthappa.
Karthik was preferred over wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, a decision that failed as Karthik scored just 6 off 5 balls.
