Farmers' Protest

American pop singer Rihanna has taken Twitter by storm by tweeting in support of the ongoing farmers’ protest in the country. The tweet by Rihanna had triggered many Indian celebrities.

Several current and former cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and many more also condemned the intervention by Rihanna and other ‘external forces’.

Cricketers and other celebrities were of the view that this is an internal matter of India and the Indian government is competent enough to solve it without any outside intervention.

Comments made by cricketers irked a lot of criticism from Netizens. Fans accused the players of not showing solidarity with the farmers. However, while criticizing the players for their comments on the ongoing farmers’ protest, actress Kangana Ranaut, who is known for her controversial tweets, went a bit too far.

Kangana referred to several Indian cricketers as “Dhobi ka Kutta” and slammed them for not expressing their views freely. She made the comment while responding to a tweet posted by India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma.

“India has always been stronger when we all stand together and finding a solution is the need of the hour. Our farmers play an important role in our nation’s well being and I am sure everyone will play their roles to find a solution TOGETHER. #IndiaTogether,” Rohit tweeted.

“Why all these cricketers sounding like dhobi ka kutta na ghar ka na ghat ka? Why would farmers be against laws which are revolutionary for their well-being. These are terrorists who are causing ruckus. Say that na…itna darr lagta hai?” Kangana replied.

However, Kangana’s tweet was taken down by Twitter as it violated the micro-blogging website’s policy.

“We have taken action on Tweets that were in violation of the Twitter rules in line with our range of enforcement options,” Twitter released a statement regarding the same.
