South Africa U-19 batter Dewald Brevis was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 3 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction. The young player is nicknamed “Baby AB de Villiers.”
Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings started the bidding war for the player, but Mumbai entered in between and won the race.
His father has revealed an interesting story after the five-time champions signed up Dewald.
“I support KKR and my elder son is a massive CSK supporter. My wife has been Mumbai Indians fans for years and now Dewald joins Mumbai too. We’ve a big problem in our household,” he told Netwerk 24.
He was the best batsman in the recently concluded U-19 World Cup in West Indies. The right-handed batter scored 506 runs, surpassing the previous record of 505 runs that India opener Shikhar Dhawan held. He was named Player of the Tournament for his magnificent performance.
