Devdutt Padikkal is the first male cricketer born in this century to represent India in international cricket. The 21-year old achieved this landmark in the second T20I between India and Sri Lanka.

Padikkal scored 29 off 23 balls in his first game, before he was dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga.

He plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from him, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana and Chetan Sakariya were the other debutants.

The left-handed batsman has already scored a century in the cash-rich league.

Earlier, Krunal Pandya tested positive for Covid-19 and his eight close contacts were told to isolate themselves.

Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Manish Pandey, Prithvi Shaw, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, and Krishnappa Gowtham missed the second match.
