Former India cricketer Ajit Agarkar is set to join Delhi Capitals as an assistant coach for IPL 2022. The franchise has parted ways with Mohammad Kaif and Ajay Ratra, who were assistant coaches until the last edition of the league.

According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Ajit Agarkar will join the team after the series against Sri Lanka as he is a part of Star Sports’ broadcasting team. The tour will end with the second Test match on March 16.

He will join head coach Ricky Ponting, batting coach Pravin Amre and bowling coach James Hopes. Kaif was a part of the Delhi based team for two seasons while Ratra stayed for one season.

It will be Agarkar’s first stint in a coaching role. Earlier, it was reported that he was in a fray to be Team India’s next bowling coach.
