Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the last two ODIs against South Africa. The right-arm pacer was not included in the Playing XI in the first game and it was reported that he twisted his ankle.

According to new reports, he has a stiff back and is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He will fly to Australia along with Mohammed Shami on October 16.

The two are on the standby list and one of them will replace Jasprit Bumrah in the ICC T20 World Cup squad. Bumrah was ruled out of the global event after injuring his back ahead of the first T20I against South Africa.

On the other hand, Chahar recently returned to competitive cricket after recovering from his injury. Shami, who was included in the team for the six T20Is against Australia and South Africa, had tested positive for COVID-19. He missed all the games and will be subjected to fitness test before joining Team India Down Under.
