New Zealand middle-order batter Daryl Mitchell entered record books as he scripted a massive record in the third ODI against India on January 18. With the series levelled at 1-1, he scored second consecutive hundred.

The right-handed batter has hit six fifty-plus scores in his last seven one-day internationals, and the current one was his fourth successive in the fifty-over format. He posted an unbeaten 131 in the second game and led the Kiwis to a seven-wicket win in Rajkot.

Mitchell showed his class in the series decider, managing another fifty-plus score. He is the first batter to smash five consecutive fifty-plus scores against the sub-continent team in India.

Mitchell accumulated 84, 131* and and a hundred in three contests. Earlier, he struck two centuries against India in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He reached the three-digit mark in the league stage in Dharamshala and then registered a ton in the semifinal at Wankhede.

“It is a high scoring ground and that’s why we are bowling first. We need to take wickets in the middle overs. Arshdeep Singh has replaced Prasidh Krishna,” he added.
