Ashwin has made a "great comeback" to shortest format of the game. He took three wickets in the two matches he played in the T20I series against New Zealand.

Former New Zealand cricketer Daniel Vettori reckoned that Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah have the ability to bowl well in death overs. While Bumrah is one of the best pacers in international cricket, Harshal has been among wickets in recent times.

Harshal took 32 wickets for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League 2021. He won the Purple Cap for finishing the tournament as the leading wicket-taker. He also equalled Dwayne Bravo’s tally of most wickets in a single IPL edition.

Vettori said that bowling in death overs is important for any team. He further added that Bumrah and Harshal can make the team strong in T20Is.

“The ability to set up the backovers is so important in T20 cricket. If Harshal Patel has that ability, we obviously know that Bumrah does, it brings a whole new dynamic to how you map out your 20 overs,” Vettori was quoted as saying on ESPNcricinfo.

“Your first six overs can be more attacking; you may have a specialist at the top because you know you have got those overs locked away at the back. There are not many bowlers who can do it and if India have two of Bumrah and Harshal, it sets them up for being such a formidable team,” he added.

Harshal, who made his debut in the second T20I between India and New Zealand, took two wickets and was awarded the Man of the Match for his performance.
