The 3rd and final ODI match between India and New Zealand is underway in Christchurch. The Men in Blue put a mere 219 on the board after the end of the innings. The middle order let the team down, and Rishabh Pant registered another failure with the bat.
The 25-year-old scored ten runs off 16 balls, and the fans quickly took to social media to express their anger towards the southpaw for his repeated failures in white-ball cricket.
Pant has scored just 244 runs in fourteen innings since his maiden white-ball century against England. The fans have demanded Rishabh’s ouster and want to see Sanju Samson in the side. Sanju, who has been scoring runs at a better rate than Rishabh has been ignored by the selectors for a long time.
With Pant’s every failure, Sanju Samson’s supporter list keeps growing, and the latest figure to extend his support to the Rajasthan Royals captain is the Member of the Parliament Shashi Tharoor.
Tharoor is an avid cricket fan and does not hesitate in putting his opinion to the public.
Before the match, Tharoor questioned the management’s decision to prefer Pant over Samson and tweeted, “Pant has done well at No. 4, so it is important to back him,” says @VVSLaxman281. He’s a good player out of form who’s failed in ten of his last 11 innings; Samson averages 66 in ODIs, has made runs in all his last five matches & is on the bench. Go figure.@IamSanjuSamson.”
Soon after Pant’s dismissal, Tharoor posted a new tweet where he demanded the southpaw’s ouster from white-ball cricket and tweeted that the left-handed player must take a break from white-ball cricket.
He tweeted, “One more failure for Pant, who needs a break from white-ball cricket. One more opportunity denied to@IamSanjuSamson who now has to wait for the @IPL to show that he’s one of the best top-order bats in India.”
