An in-form Pujara is still India's best bet for the No. 3 slot.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who the Indian selectors discarded after a few failures, is proving them wrong by his unstoppable march for Sussex in the County Championship 2022 in England. He slammed his third consecutive hundred of the campaign when he touched the three-figure mark against Durham.

The right-handed batter was on 128 at the time of penning down this news, and his knock took the team to 362/5 in reply to Durham’s 223 in the first innings.

Earlier, in his second match of the season, the veteran scored a ton against Worcestershire.

The 34-year-old had accumulated a double hundred in his debut match for Sussex against Derbyshire.

He was not considered for the Test series against Sri Lanka, but the chairman of the selectors, Chetan Sharma, had made it clear that Pujara was still in contention.

In 95 Test matches, the Indian batter has scored 6713 runs at an average of 43.87. He has hit 18 hundreds and 32 fifties in the game’s longest format.
