Rohit Sharma era has officially started in Indian cricket, with him getting the captain’s armband in Test cricket. Rohit will lead India in a two-match series against Sri Lanka.
Chetan Sharma, the head of the selection committee, has lauded Rohit for his stature in the team and labelled him as the number one cricketer in the country.
He further named three players who will be groomed as future captains under the 34-year old.
“Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant to be groomed as future captains under Rohit Sharma”.
Sharma is leading the Men in Blue in the ongoing three-match contest against West Indies at the Eden Gardens. The home team leads 2-0 with just one match to go. Earlier, India whitewashed the same team 3-0 in one-day internationals.
