Mumbai Indians suffered a heavy blow ahead of the upcoming IPL edition, as their INR 17.5 crore buy Cameron Green, IPL’s 2nd most expensive player, suffered an injury in the ongoing South Africa series.
Green sustained a finger injury in the 2nd match when an Anrich Nortje delivery hit him on the hand. Following the injury, the 23-year-old went out of the field for a while before returning to bat again with a broken finger.
However, later scans revealed that he has a fractured finger and got ruled out of the 3rd and final Test. The injury scared Mumbai Indians, as there were reports that Green would be fit just in time for the IPL but not be able to bowl till April 13.
However, Green broke his silence and squashed the rumour mills by providing an update on his finger. Speaking to SEN, Green addressed the report and said it is untrue.
“I have heard about my unavailability to bowl for a while. I don’t know where this originated, but I am 100% fit for both skill sets in the IPL.”
Green further commented that he and Mitchell Starc will be fit in time for the India Test series but are doubtful for the first Test.
