Sodhi further spoke about the importance of all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has become CSK's leading man in the tournament.

Former Australian bowler Brad Hogg feels Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa will play an important role for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at IPL 2022. The defending champions bought the experienced duo at the mega auction.

While Uthappa was bought for INR 2 crore, the Chennai based franchise shelled out INR 6.75 crore at the auction after being released.

Rayudu and Uthappa were instrumental in CSK’s title victory last year. The two veterans, alongside Moeen Ali, played cameos to lead CSK to wins. However, with Suresh Raina not being retained, Ambati and Robin will have to share more responsibility for the team.

Talking about the role they could play, Hogg said on his YouTube channel: “Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa, in the middle order, are going to be the X-Factors in the CSK side. They can take the pressure off the lower order.”

“Conway should open the innings for the team. I think he can play a huge role and bat through the innings. CSK did well at the auction, and they have got a very balanced team. They have bought younger players and hope they perform well for the Chennai team.”

Devon Conway was bought for INR 1 crore. The left-hander has been one of New Zealand’s top performers in the last year. Unfortunately, CSK could not buy back Faf du Plessis, but in Conway, they have got a decent batter.
