Wriddhiman Saha, the Indian wicket-keeper batter in Test cricket, has become the first active player to speak on the appointment of Rohit Sharma as Team India’s new ODI captain. The veteran cricketer feels the split captaincy would work in India’s favour as Rohit and Virat are good leaders.

“Both Virat Kohli and Rohit are very good leaders and I am sure they will both work together and take the game ahead. Both Rohit and Virat buy into this vision and as captains will advance this vision further,” Saha told Economic Times.

“Having spent a lot of time with this team I can tell you that the change room is a very happy one & everyone has one simple interest in mind – what works for the team,” he added.

Saha is confident of winning the upcoming Test series in South Africa. For the record, India are still looking for a maiden series win against the Proteas.

“We have done very well in Test Cricket overseas in recent times and there is no reason why we can’t replicate the success in South Africa. We have a quality bowling unit that can pick 20 wickets. Our batting has the experience of playing in South Africa,” he said.
