After KL Rahul and Axar Patel, another Indian player has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against the West Indies. Washington Sundar’s return to competitive cricket has suffered another blow as the spin all-rounder will not take part in T20 matches. The Men in Blue is set to host the Kieron Pollard-led team in a three-match series at Eden Gardens.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Sundar has suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury. A Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) official told Cricbuzz that Sundar will report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Tuesday. He will be out of action for three weeks.
Sundar recently made his comeback after 11 months in the ODI series between India and West Indies after being out due to a finger injury he suffered in England. Washington missed the second leg of the Indian Premier League and the ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE. His return was delayed after testing positive for COVID-19 ahead of the tour of South Africa.
He took 4 wickets and played two important innings in three games against the visitors. Sundar was purchased by Sunrisers Hyderabad for 8.75 crore ahead of IPL 2022.
The first T20I is scheduled to be played on February 16. The remaining two matches will be on 18 and 20.
