Gujarat Titans have suffered a major blow ahead of the Indian Premier League 2022 with England player Jason Roy deciding to pull out of the tournament. The right-handed batter who was purchased for INR 2 crore was the only specialist opener along with Shubman Gill.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the Titans will soon announce the replacement for the player who citied bio-bubble fatigue as the reason. He recently played for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League 2022 and accumulated 303 runs at a strike-rate of 170.22 with one hundred and two fifties.

This is the second time he has decided to opt out of the league after finding a team. He was purchased by Delhi Capitals for INR 1.5 crore in 2020, but he stayed away from the tournament for personal reasons.

If Roy had played in the 15th season of the league, he would need to be away from his family for two months, which includes his second child.

Jason has represented Gujarat Lions, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past. In 13 IPL games, he has scored 329 runs at an average of 29.90 and a strike rate of 129.01, including two half-centuries.

Gujarat Titans squad: Hardik Pandya (c), Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson, Abhinav Sadarangani, Rahul Tewatia, Noor Ahmad, R Sai Kishore, Dominic Drakes, Jayant Yadav, Vijay Shankar, Darshan Nalkande, Yash Dayal, Alzarri Joseph, Pradeep Sangwan, David Miller, Wriddhiman Saha, Matthew Wade, Gurkeerat Singh, Varun Aaron, B Sai Sudarshan.
