Ajinkya Rahane was ruled out of the second Test match between India and New Zealand due to fitness issues. However, there was some suspicion as he was seen carrying drinks for the players on the first day of the last Test match.

Rahane has failed to impress in the last few series and is on the verge of getting dropped. According to a report by PTI, the governing body of the Indian cricket is planning to sack him from vice-captaincy.

Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI is not happy with his performance and wants to give the opportunity to a more deserving candidate.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are the top contenders to replace Rahane. Considering Rohit’s workload and captaincy responsibilities in T20Is, the BCCI might give the post to Rahul.
