The BCCI has stopped the Lucknow franchise from signing three players ahead of the mega auction. Lucknow based franchise was on the verge of bringing KL Rahul on board as a captain but the new instructions from the Indian cricket board has put their plans on hold.

According to reports, the apex body of the Indian cricket wants to resolve the issue surrounding the CVC-backed Ahmedabad franchise before allowing the teams to sign three players each. Sourav Ganguly-led board has formed an independent committee to look into CVC’s alleged links with betting companies.

The deadline to sign the players will be extended to beyond December 25.

RPSG group won the rights for the Lucknow franchise after a whopping Rs 7,090 crore bid. CVC Capital got the Ahmedabad franchise for Rs 5,625 crore.
