KL Rahul has always been a slow starter, even in the T20 format.

KL Rahul has been declared fit and added to the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. Shikhar Dhawan has been removed from captaincy, and Rahul will lead in his place.

Earlier, KL was expected to miss the series due to his injury, but the right-handed batter cleared the fitness test ahead of the team’s departure.

Rahul has been battling injuries since the home T20I series against South Africa and has missed many international series. On the other hand, Dhawan led India to a 3-0 ODI series triumph in West Indies.

The matches in Zimbabwe will start on August 18, with the last ODI to be played on August 22.

India’s squad for 3 ODIs: KL Rahul (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan (vice-captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Sanju Samson (wicket-keeper), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, Deepak Chahar.
