Virat Kohli stepped down from Test captaincy following India’s defeat in South Africa. The visitors were beaten 1-2, but nobody expected the sudden call of resignation from India’s most successful Test skipper.
He took to Twitter to reveal the news. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made the first official statement on his replacement. Arun Dhumal, the board’s treasurer, stated that selectors would take a call on the new leader in red-ball cricket.
“The selectors take the decision to appoint a captain, not the office bearers. So they would discuss among themselves who will be the next Test captain,” he told ANI.
