The BCCI is likely to field two different teams simultaneously for the 3rd time in history. Due to the jam-packed schedule, the players will be on the road till the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Before the global event, a lot of series are lined-up with many new added to the fixtures.

As per a report in The Times of India, the Men in Blue will be travelling to West Indies, Zimbabwe and Ireland before the premier T20I tournament. Since the players are likely to take part in the Asia Cup, a second-string team could face Ireland and then travel to Zimbabwe.

As per TOI, the one-off T20I against Ireland and the one-off Test against England are likely to be played at the same time.

“The players have been informed about the schedule and the discussion around the bio-bubble break have also started. The players will have to inform about the break in advance. The second string side will travel to Zimbabwe with main players participating in the Asia Cup before the T20 World Cup in Australia,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying by TOI.

The BCCI hasn’t confirmed the new tours yet and it remains to be seen how the board will adjust the newly added series. After the matches against Sri Lanka, the national players will compete in the Indian Premier League 2022.

Following the cash-rich league, the Rohit Sharma-led team will host South Africa for a 5-match T20Is. The players will then travel to England.. During the same time, a second string team will take on Ireland and Zimbabwe.

Shikhar Dhawan led a second Indian team to Sri Lanka in 2021, with the main team competing in England. Back in 1998 too, the BCCI fielded two teams. One team played in the Commonwealth Games while the other squad participated in the Sahara Cup.
