Bangladesh is adamant on not playing their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 matches in India after Mustafizur Rahman was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders on the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, following the killing of Hindus in the country. They have written to the International Cricket Council twice regarding the matter, with the apex body requesting them to rethink their stance. But the BCB has refused to compete in India. Amidst the ongoing tussle, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has finally opened up on the matter.

Speaking to ANI, he said that the BCCI is not aware of the conversation taking place between the ICC and BCB. They are unaware of what is happening.

“BCCI is not in the loop regarding the conversation between the ICC and the Bangladesh Cricket Board. We are unaware. Once we hear anything from the officials, we will update you,” he said.

“The BCB reaffirmed its position regarding not playing in India due to security reasons. The Board once again urged the ICC to consider our request of relocating the matching from India,” BCB said in a statement.

“The ICC highlighted the fact that the schedule of the tournament has already been finalized and requested us to reconsider our stance. The Board continues to back its demand. Both parties agreed to further discussions to solve the issue,” the statement added.

“Safety of our players, support staff, and the officials is the top priority, and we are in touch with the ICC to address the matter.”
