Lucknow Super Giants’ mentor Gautam Gambhir wanted to sign Taskin Ahmed as a replacement player for Mark Wood, who was ruled out of IPL 2022 due to an injury.
Though there was no official confirmation, Taskin was the preferred choice. However, that will not be the case now.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has refused to provide the fast bowler with the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in the IPL.
BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus stated that the officials have spoken to Taskin Ahmed, and the player has informed the Lucknow based franchise about his unavailability.
“We have the ongoing series in South Africa, and then we will play against India, so we felt releasing him for the IPL won’t be right.
“We have spoken with Taskin, and he has understood the importance of international matches. He has informed the franchise that he is not keen on playing the league now,” he said while speaking to the reporters, according to Cricbuzz.
