Bangladesh want to play in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 but not in India. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has written to the International Cricket Council to take their matter to the Dispute Resolution Committee of the apex body, as they are adamant on competing in Sri Lanka. According to India Today, the top officials of the ICC will go through BCB’s new appeal before forwarding their demand to the Dispute Resolution Committee.

The ICC board members have already voted against any change in the schedule of the global tournament. If Bangladesh refuses to change its stance, the ICC will replace the sub-continent nation with Scotland.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah is in Dubai, and the final decision on Bangladesh’s participation in the competition is expected in the evening. Despite Bangladesh’s last effort, the decision of the ICC board can’t be changed by any committee of the international body. The ICC has decided to remove Bangladesh from the World Cup if they don’t agree to travel to India.

BCB recently met World Cup-bound players and decided to boycott the World Cup, citing security reasons. They decided after the ICC gave them a day to decide on their final step. Bangladesh are in Group C alongside England, Italy, the West Indies and Nepal, with their matches scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Bangladesh accused the ICC of not treating them fairly despite their strong presence in World Cricket. Bangladesh’s sports adviser Asif Nazrul said that they will compromise with the security of the players, support staff and the fans.
