Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar recently mocked current captain Babar Azam for his English. He said Babar hasn’t become a brand in Pakistan because of his poor communication skills.
However, he was slammed by former players and fans for his controversial remark about one of the best players in the history of Pakistan cricket.
Akhtar added that Azam Khan should lead the T20I side instead of Babar. Azam has been in good form for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League 2023.
Shoaib has now shared a heartwarming incident involving Babar as he recalled the time when he bowled to the right-hand batter for the first time.
The speedster had warned Azam about hitting him for a straight drive, but Babar did it anyway.
“Babar used to come to the academy. Mudassar bhai would accompany him at the time. Once, I told Babar to bat in the nets and told him to avoid hitting me for a straight drive,” he said.
“However, he hit me for a straight drive Tab maine kaha, ‘main isko chhordunga nahi’ (Then I said, I won’t spare you). Then, Mudassar bhai told Babar to come out; otherwise he would hit you,” he added.
