Babar Azam is the best batter in the world at the moment. He has broken another world record of Virat Kohli.
It is the 2nd time in two months that the Pakistani skipper has inscribed his name by wiping off Kohli’s name.
Last time, Babar had surpassed Virat to become the fastest captain to reach 1000 ODI runs. He achieved the feat in 13 innings compared to Virat, who took 17.
This time he etched his name in the shortest format of the game. Babar has surpassed Kohli for the maximum number of days spent at the top of the batting chart in the T20Is.
In the latest ranking updates released by the ICC, Babar, as usual, retained his No.1 spot while Kohli is ranked 21. Meanwhile, it took Babar’s tally of being at the top of the chart for 1030 days, whereas the previous record held by Kohli was for 1013 days.
Babar is ranked No.1 in both the white-ball formats but sits in 4th position in Test cricket. The 27-year-old aims to become the first cricketer to rank no.1 in all formats. However, looking at Joe Root’s current form, it seems unlikely.
