Axar Patel revealed that Indian players practiced with the red dukes ball during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 in preparation for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final. The WTC Final will see India face Australia in a highly anticipated showdown starting on June 7th.

In an interview with the ICC, Patel stated that Indian players were provided with the Dukes ball during the IPL to familiarize themselves with its feel. He acknowledged the challenge of transitioning from white-ball cricket to red-ball cricket after two months of intense franchise cricket. However, Patel expressed confidence that they had enough time to adapt.

Patel explained that the key difference with the Dukes ball is that it remains shinier for a longer period. Nevertheless, the Indian players practiced with the Dukes’ ball during the IPL and became accustomed to it.

The Indian players arrived in England in different batches. Those who did not qualify for the IPL playoffs departed first, followed by captain Rohit Sharma, KS Bharat, and others. Patel reassured that India had ample time to prepare for the final match against Pat Cummins’ side.
