Former captain Ricky Ponting has come down hard on the visiting England team after their woeful Ashes 2021-22 campaign.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting feels Australia will axe Usman Khawaja despite his century in the first innings of the fourth Ashes Test. According to him, Khawaja will make a way for Travis Head, who was ruled out after testing positive for COVID-19.

Playing his first Test since 2019, the left-handed batter scored 137 runs off 260 balls. Speaking to cricket.com.au, Ponting said that Head had batted beautifully in Brisbane and Adelaide.

“Travis has been brilliant in the series so far. In fact, that’s the best he has batted in his career. The selectors will have to go with the strongest playing XI and Travis Head was a part of that team,” he said.
