R Ashwin, who has been a top bowler in the last few T20Is, believes Delhi will not retain him and Shreyas Iyer for the 15th edition of the league.

The IPL franchises have a lot to think about before retaining four players ahead of the mega auction in December. With two new teams entering the league from next season, the retention process has become more important.

R Ashwin, who has been a top bowler in the last few T20Is, believes Delhi will not retain him and Shreyas Iyer for the 15th edition of the league.

While Ashwin has been one of the wicket-taking options for the team, Shreyas Iyer is counted among the best batters. “I will not be there along with Shreyas Iyer,” he said.

Shreyas, who led Delhi in the 13th edition, had to miss the first leg of the tournament in 2021 after suffering an unfortunate injury during the T20I series against England. Rishabh Pant replaced him as the team’s skipper.

Although Iyer made a comeback for the second leg in the UAE, the franchise persisted with Pant as team skippers.
