Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) paid homage to late cricketer Manjural Islam Rana on his 37th birth anniversary on Tuesday. Manjural, also known as Qazi, was 22 when the former cricketer passed away after a motorcycle accident. He had played 6 Test and 25 ODIs.
However, the manner in which the post was shared baffled a host of Twitter users including veteran Team India spinner R Ashwin. BCB, in their tweet, highlighted the fact that Manjural was the youngest Test Cricketer to die in the same post.
“Happy Birthday to Manjural Islam Rana, youngest Test Cricketer to die at the age 22 years and 316 days,” BCB tweeted. After noticing the unpleasant tweet, Ashwin left a noteworthy emoticon while reacting to the tweet.
BCB, however, took down the tweet and also shared a new post to celebrate the life of the former Bangladeshi cricketer. “Happy Birthday to Manjural Islam Rana. One of the Greatest Tiger we ever had,” BCB tweeted.
Speaking of Ashwin, the 34-year-old had left the Delhi Capitals camp last month to support his family during these testing times. But, a week after his departure, IPL 2021 has been also suspended following a massive surge in coronavirus cases.
