Ashes match referee David Boon has been put into isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, forcing him to be replaced by Steve Bernard for the fourth Ashes Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

“It is anticipated that David Boon will return to the role for the fifth Test in Hobart, starting on January 14,” CA said in a statement.

“He is asymptomatic and fully vaccinated, including having a booster.”
