Young Arshdeep Singh has come a long way in his career. He has become an integral part of the Indian side in T20Is.
The left-arm pacer took 10 wickets in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022 and was given an ODI debut in the ongoing three-match series against New Zealand.
He recently broke his silence on head coach Rahul Dravid comparing him with Jasprit Bumrah.
Before the ICC T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh, Dravid was asked about the rise of Arshdeep.
Dravid said he was pleased with the way Arshdeep had performed and went on to compare him with Bumrah.
“Bumrah was the one who bowled two of the last five overs, and now Arsheep has taken that task in his hand. It is good to see a young bowler taking up the responsibility so early in his career,” he had said.
Speaking to the media ahead of the 3rd ODI against New Zealand, Arshdeep was asked about Dravid’s remark.
“It is good to perform well for the team. It feel nice when I contribute to the team’s win. I never came up with a thought process of becoming the main bowler. I only focus on the next match of the series.”
