Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh feels that a split coaching system like England’s should be introduced in India as it might benefit the team. England recently thumped the Men in Blue in the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
Bhajji believes that former India pacer Ashish Nehra could be an ideal choice for T20I coaching and could take the team forward.
While Brendon McCullum has improved England’s fortunes in Test cricket, Matthew Mott led England to win in the ICC T20 World Cup.
“You can have someone like Nehra in T20I cricket. He knows the game better than others,” he said to PTI.
Harbhajan said Dravid could work with his former teammate.
“Dravid and Nehra have played together for years. He has vast knowledge, but T20 is a different format. Don’t remove Dravid but make him work with Nehara, and the two can build the team for the 2024 T20 World Cup.”
Nehra was Gujarat Titans’ coach when they won the title in IPL 2022. Bhajji felt that Dravid could easily take a break with different coaches as he did in the New Zealand series.
