After three years, Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma will be on the big screen in the upcoming film Chakda Xpress. Netflix Thursday released a teaser of the film.
Based on the life of the legendary captain Jhulan Goswami, the teaser takes fans to 2008 when the Women in Blue were all set to take on the mighty Aussies, but no fans were cheering for them.
“If cricket is a religion, why are men the only Gods?” says the teaser. Prosit Roy is directing the film with Abhishek Bannerjee is the writer. Clean Slate Filmz is producing the movie.
Talking about Chakda Xpress, Anushka Sharma said – “The film is special as it is the story of sacrifice. It will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. When Jhulan Goswami decided to play for the country, it was tough for the women to even think of playing the sport.
Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu, who will be seen playing the role of cricketer Mithali Raj in the film Shabaash Mithu, reacted to the teaser. “From Mithali to Jhulan! Go for it, sister.” In a separate Instagram story, Taapsee Pannu wrote: “Time for “Women in blue.” Go for it, Chakda Express!”
