Overview:

Amir picked Pakistan and New Zealand for the semi-final spots from Group B. England and Sri Lanka are also part of the line-up.

Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir said that the Indian team wouldn’t be able to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The Men in Blue are undefeated in the ongoing global tournament following their wins against the USA, Namibia, Pakistan and the Netherlands. India will compete against South Africa, Zimbabwe and the West Indies in the next round of the competition.

India have been impacted by the inconsistency of the batting order, with top willow holders failing to contribute. Abhishek Sharma has recorded three ducks, while Tilak Varma hasn’t been able to set the stage on fire. Amir mentioned that teams like the West Indies and South Africa can take advantage of India’s concerns.

During one of the shows, Amir was asked to reveal his semi-finals predictions from Group A of the Super 8 stage, and he gave his vote to South Africa and the West Indies.

When the anchor said that he didn’t think India would make it to the knockout round, Amir shook his head.

“India suffered batting collapses barring the Pakistan game. There will be a lot of pressure in the Super 8 matches. South Africa and the West Indies can beat any team,” he said.

India will compete against South Africa on February 22 in their first match of the Super 8s campaign. The defending champions will then travel to Chennai to clash with Zimbabwe on February 22. The Indian National Cricket team’s last match will be played on March 1 against the two-time champions, West Indies, at the Eden Gardens.

Amir picked Pakistan and New Zealand for the semi-final spots from Group B. England and Sri Lanka are also part of the line-up. The Super 8 stage will start on February 21, with Pakistan’s match against New Zealand at the R Premadasa Stadium.
